The Wyatt Hotel Area
The hotel is ideally situated close to the shores of Clew Bay, where Westport's vibrant array of brightly coloured shops and restaurants jostle for attention along its tree-lined streets. Designated one of Ireland's heritage towns, it nestles under the shadow of the imposing Croagh Patrick Mountain and overlooks Clew Bay in County Mayo. The town's other attractions include the famous Westport House and Country Estate, one of Ireland's top day visitor attractions. This fine Gerogian mansion, home of Lord Sligo, is well worth a visit and is open to the public from April to September each year.
Hiking in Westport - This area is a haven for walkers of all standards. Whether you seek a hike in the hills and Croagh Patrick, a walk on the seashore, or a stroll around the town. The Western Way, a marked trail, passes through Westport and a wide variety of guided walks are also available. Clew Bay Heritage Centre, located at the Quay area, offers visitors a trip back in time with a museum of local heritage, maritime traditions, people and places. Full genealogical service. Guided walks and tours. Blue flag beaches are just a short drive from the town (10 km). Walkers love the firm footing and ever-changing landscape, as well as the joy of strolling in solitude by an Atlantic shore.
Achill Island (20 km) - The picturesque villages are set against the most magnificent mountainous landscapes and coastal scenery. The highest cliffs in Ireland dive dramatically into the deep blue Atlantic Ocean amid the finest and cleanest beaches and waters in Europe.
The bistro-style Wyatt Restaurant in the hub of the hotel seats up to 60 guests. It serves a buffet Irish breakfast, and a table d'hôte dinner is served nightly. JW's Brasserie is a popular place for locals and visitors. It serves excellent food daily from 12:30 to 21:00. Music is usually featured in The Cobblers Bar & Courtyard on most Fridays and Saturdays. The traditional Irish music session every Sunday night, starting at 20:00, is always popular.
