We booked 6 nights all inclusive in a beach bungalow at Costasur. We apprehensively arrived after a hellish 10 hour coach ride from Vinales and a frustrating Taxi ride from Trinidad bus station. We checked in no problem, and arrived at our bungalow with a huge sigh of relief - much better than we were expecting, and far better than anywhere else we had experienced in Cuba. Within 10 minutes, we were watching the sun set whilst hummingbirds flitted about the well kept garden outside our bungalow, with a beautiful view of the beach (and bar!). The beach itself was great, nicely sheltered by a man made reef/barrier/lagoon. It was a bit stony, but not uncomfortably so. It was mostly quiet, although at the weekend it was noticeably busier with locals. Plenty of shade, which facilitated lazing around drinking and reading. The bars were always well stocked, which we took full advantage of. The restaurant had plenty of food available and we never went hungry. We would say you'd do well to stick to the more traditional cuban fare and avoid the imitations of typical western food. The bean soup/broth ladled over rice was always delicious, especially topped off with some freshly grilled pork or beef. The staff were sometimes a bit hit or miss, but we had mostly positive experiences. It was a bit remote from Trinidad, don't pay more than 10 CUC for a taxi in the day time! The tourist bus between the town and the peninsula has a tendency to bypass Costasur if it's already full from picking up from the Hotel Ancon further on down. The cadeca in town is NOT open on Sunday, despite what the staff tell you! The activities staff were able to organise some diving for me very simply and easily, either a 2 CUC horse and carriage ride to the Dive Centre or a half hour walk.

Hotel is located in a very nice place. We had booked bungalows, right on the beach. This was really great. However, we have been disappointed by services: 1 room full of mosquitos, non functional toilets, food not very good, and noisy swimming pool (camping music rather than hotel), promised animations not existing. Good place to go, but don't expect too much outside of the beach.
