Voi Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel Information
small architectural jewel in the heart of Rome, the Donna Camilla Savelli hotel complex, was created from a 17th century convent. A corner of tranquillity in the heart of the Trastevere, the Donna Camilla Savelli lies at the foot of the Granicolo, approximately 800m from the lively area of Campo dei Fiori and 4 Km from the Roman Forum. The hotel takes its name from the founder of the religious institute. It was during the year 1642, when Donna Camilla, noble lady of the Farnese family, commissioned Francesco Borromini to design the convent of the "Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori× and the adjoining namesake church. After an immaculate restoration, with respect both to the architectural criteria of the Baroque period and of the original project of Borromini, the convent has been transformed into a 4-star hotel. The cells, which in past times hosted the nuns of the order Oblate Agostiniane", have been developed into the rooms of the hotel; presented in their ancient splendour, with exposed beams of wood and antique furniture; luxurious but never pompous. Representing a synthesis between antique and modern, in which attention to detail and minimalism co-exist. Each room has its own unique characteristics. In fact there isn×ÂÂt one single room in the hotel that is identical to another. The roof garden of the Donna Camilla Savelli bestows almost the impression of travelling back in time through the centuries. In the centre is positioned a fountain, also from the Baroque period, and radiating out from the fountain is an immaculate garden, well tended in every detail, an ideal location for receptions and exclusive events or simply the place to enjoy a relaxing moment with a book. The cloister, the refectory, the entrance and communal areas, all conceived by Borromini recalling the classic antiquity and the atmosphere of the Adriana Villa in Tivoli, make the Donna Camilla Savelli a unique entity in the landscape of Italian hotels.
The hotel is located in Trastevere, one of the charcateristic and picturesque quartier of Rome. It is centrally located in the historical centre.
Rooms are a mixture of traditional and modern style. Each room has a unique style, they are minimalistic and well refined with elegant decors. Rooms are decorated in different colour, some of them have also woode ceiling.
The lobby is medium in size, functional and respects the elegance of the hotel. The seating area is spread along a corridor and equipped with easy-chairs and coffee tables.
